John Textor counter-offer update emerges as Everton takeover fully agreed
John Textor will not make a counter-offer to purchase Everton after Dan Friedkin reached an agreement with Farhad Moshiri, according to Alan Myers.
The Toffees announced on 23 September that Blue Heaven Holdings and the Friedkin Group have reached an agreement, subject to approval from the Premier League, The FA and the Financial Conduct Authority.
It is expected Friedkin will have no trouble passing those tests [Liverpool Echo], leaving current Crystal Palace co-owner Textor without a deal after voicing his hopes about turning the Toffees into a “superpower” [Alan Nixon].
Being asked if Textor could return, Myers replied via X: “No, not now.”
John Textor makes final Everton takeover decision
Textor was saying all the right things when discussing his potential takeover deal at Goodison Park, though it looks like he’s been beaten to the punch by the Friedkin’s.
The American tycoon is yet to sell his shareholding at Selhurst Park, which leaves him in limbo after Moshiri struck a deal with the Friedkin Group.
While he does have decent experience in the Premier League with the Eagles, fans will be chomping at the bit to have agreed a deal with Friedkin, who has even more experience in Europe.
He has helped lead AS Roma to European finals during his time in charge of the Serie A club, though it could mean Sean Dyche’s time on Merseyside is running out.
Daniele de Rossi has already lost his job with Roma, just four matches into the new season, despite putting pen to paper on a new deal until 2027.
However, the takeover saga has dragged on for far too long, originally beginning after 777 Partners’ initial interest last season, and Friedkin finally looks to be providing an answer for the Merseyside club.
