Lee Carsley mooted as potential Sean Dyche replacement in surprise Everton update

Dan Friedkin could look to hire England interim manager Lee Carsley if he sacks Sean Dyche at Everton, according to GiveMeSport.

Their sources reported on 24 September that Carsley, who played for the Toffees between 2002 and 2008, would be a leading candidate to replace Dyche if the 53-year-old is sacked.

The Friedkin Group struck a deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake at Goodison Park on 23 September, and the Americans could be set to make sweeping changes once taking up the reins.

The Blues are winless in their first five Premier League matches of the season, losing four straight before a draw at Leicester, and it is said that Dyche is already fighting to save his job.

Dan Friedkin takeover puts Sean Dyche on brink of Everton sack

After a winless and woefully under-par start to the new season, Dyche’s biggest saving grace could well be the fact that Friedkin’s takeover doesn’t look like being completed until the final months of the year.

Therefore, the next few weeks could well shape up to be his audition to Friedkin in a bid to save his job, and that can only begin to take a turn for the better if his Blues side start to win games.

John Textor, who until Friedkin’s breakthrough appeared to be the front-runner to buy the club from Moshiri, had already lined up a possible successor [Alan Nixon, 8 September], and Friedkin could well be doing the same.

Dyche’s current contract at Goodison is also well into its final year and expires in June 2025, giving Friedkin the option of keeping faith with the 53-year-old until the end of the season at no extra cost.

However, with the Bramley-Moore Dock relocation on the horizon and the Toffees already amid a relegation battle, Dyche may not be afforded the luxury of patience by Everton’s new owner.
