Everton January transfer plans revealed ahead of Dan Friedkin takeover completion
Alan Myers says Everton will “for sure” spend during the January transfer window as Dan Friedkin closes in on a takeover at Goodison Park.
Reporting via X on 25 September, the Sky Sports journalist replied to a fan’s question and doubled down on the fact that he thinks the Toffees will be spending early in the New Year to improve their ranks.
Sean Dyche’s men have had a poor start to their 2024/25 campaign and find themselves 19th in the Premier League with just one point to their name.
“We will spend for sure,” Myers wrote.
Everton need to find some form before January transfer window
While nobody expected Everton to be nearing the top of the table, very few expected to find the club in the predicament they’ve put themselves in.
After what seemed like a fairly strong transfer window that saw players such as £15.6million man Iliman Ndiaye come through the Goodison Park doors, fans were somewhat excited about the season ahead.
However, things haven’t quite gone to plan and the Merseyside outfit have once again found themselves in a relegation battle.
In fact, things got so bad that Dyche’s future was brought into question, and while he seems safe for now, the fact that big names such as Gareth Southgate are being linked to the hot seat [GiveMeSport, 23 September] says all you need to know about the club’s current view on the 53-year-old.
There’s still a lot of the season to go and things can change within an instant in football, so while things may look bleak at the moment, if they manage to iron out a couple of issues on the field, things could start to look somewhat brighter in the near future.
