Everton want to sign attacking sensation as signing update emerges amid Friedkin takeover
Everton are interested in Sao Paulo sensation Henrique Carmo and have already made themselves known in the race to sign him, UOL report
According to the Brazilian outlet’s website on 26 September the Toffees have made contact to express their interest alongside Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.
The 17-year-old attacker, who is seen as one of Sao Paulo’s most promising talents and broke into the first team this year, is also liked by Saudi side Al-Qadsiah, as well as a “secret” Portuguese club who are thought to have made an offer.
The Brazilian club want to extend his contract, which currently expires in December 2025, but if not he can agree a pre-contract from July. A €10million [£8.3m] bid from Shakhtar Donetsk was rejected in the previous transfer window.
Sean Dyche future unclear at Everton post-takeover
Everton interest in sought-after talents in recent years always felt like an uphill struggle thanks to financial worries at Goodison Park since Farhad Moshiri’s funding dried up.
While PSR rules will prevent a new Dan Friedkin regime from spending hugely without first increasing revenues significantly [The Athletic, 23 September] the takeover is set to alleviate many of the debt concerns that have lingered for so long [Alan Myers, 23 September].
The previous transfer window was more active than might have been feared after a season where the prospect of administration was regularly in question.
But the incoming deals still included multiple loans and had to be offset by significant sales, not least Amadou Onana’s £50million move to Aston Villa [Sky Sports, 23 July].

Even then an injury crisis to kick off the season has contributed to dismal form on the pitch, which has called Sean Dyche’s job into question even before the takeover was suddenly agreed [GiveMeSport, 23 September].
His chances of staying long-term after Friedkin replaces Moshiri are likely to be remote without a notable improvement in the coming weeks, so whether he gets the benefit of potential transfers that can now be investigated with more confidence remains to be seen.
In other Everton news, Friedkin looked at a rival Premier League club before agreeing his Toffees takeover.
