Everton must sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin in January after latest contract news
Everton finally managed to break their winless streak in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
With two goals from the “incredible” Dwight McNeil, the Toffees finally managed to get their first Premier League win of the season on 28 September.
Everton now find themselves sixteenth in the table and while they’re still only one point from the bottom three, they’ve managed to put themselves in a far better position.
However, as has always been the case, things aren’t all sunshine and rainbows.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract is hanging over the heads of those at Everton with the striker not yet accepting a new deal despite the door being open for him [Liverpool ECHO, 28 September].
If an extension can’t be agreed, this could force the Toffees’ hand in selling the striker during the January window so that they don’t lose him on a free transfer in the summer.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed for Everton exit?
The striker has led Everton’s attacking line for as long as many can remember now with the former Sheffield United man often being the focal point of their attack.
Sean Dyche does have both Beto and Armando Broja within his ranks but with the latter still out injured and the former being in some of the worst form in his career, it feels as if the club are stuck with Calvert-Lewin leading their line.
Granted, there have been moments during the season where the striker has been on top form but there have already been numerous occasions this term where the striker looked like he had “no idea” what he was doing in the final third.

While fans may be reluctant to sell the 27-year-old, his injury history coupled with his lack of consistency in front of goal, could make striking a deal worthwhile.
Unless there are suggestions of interest in January, Everton must push to tie down the striker as soon as possible to get rid of that worry.
