Doucoure spotted mocking Anthony Gordon after Everton v Newcastle flashpoint
Abdoulaye Doucoure did what every Everton fan wanted to do after Anthony Gordon missed his penalty for Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Jordan Pickford pulled off a tremendous save to stop Newcastle taking the lead in the 35th minute after James Tarkowwski was adjudged to have fouled Sandro Tonali in the penalty area.
Although it took an on-field VAR review to give the Magpies a penalty, replays show that it was an obvious decision after Tarkowski essentially bodyslammed Tonali to the turf.
Gordon left Merseyside in acrimonious circumstances in January 2023 and clearly, the sour taste is yet to leave the mouths of Evertonians.
And when the 23-year-old winger had his penalty saved, Goodison erupted and Doucoure’s instant reaction was to run over to the ex-Evertonian to celebrate right by him, as seen in images from Sky Sports Premier League.

Everton need to capitalise on their momentum v Newcastle
Everton have had a poor start to the season which has resulted in the future of Sean Dyche coming under some major scrutiny.
In fact, the manager himself has admitted that he knows he needs to “get things right” on the pitch in order to save his job.
While their start to the season has been rather slow, their most recent game against Crystal Palace showed what the team were really capable of.
Dwight McNeil made a very good name for himself against the Eagles and could even find himself as the key to the Toffees’ Premier League survival if his form manages to continue.
There’s still plenty of time left in the season for things to change of course but, for now, at least, it seems as if Dyche’s men have finally found some sort of form.
And, since Gordon missed his penalty, it could fill the team with a fire in their stomach to go on and claim all three points from the clash.
In other Everton news, The Friedkin Group are expected to make a new bid to retain Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season.
