Fabrizio Romano shares Everton stance on Dwight McNeil after new announcement
Everton are “extremely happy” with Dwight McNeil after he was nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist posted via his X account [5 October] that the Blues are delighted with the forward’s development this season.
McNeil is up for the September award after three goals, including two in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace last weekend, and one assist across those three matches.
Dwight McNeil making strides at Everton
The 24-year-old single-handedly won the match against Crystal Palace for the Blues and his impact on the side this term has been undeniable.
Dyche will need to rely on his forward again on Saturday [5 October] when Newcastle United travel to Goodison Park after it was confirmed Jarrad Branthwaite will be missing [The Mirror], one match after returning to the side from injury.
McNeil has been tipped to reach the greatest heights for the Toffees this year. The former Burnley man has taken great strides after his underwhelming display last season and has already matched his Premier League goal tally in 29 fewer appearances.
The boss deserves his plaudits for the role he has played in helping McNeil discover his goalscoring form. The decision to move the forward into a central role behind the striker, with Iliman Ndiaye operating on the left flank, has revolutionised the Blues’ attack.
Everton have had little trouble scoring goals. However, in the absence of Branthwaite, Dyche will be eager to avoid a repeat of the 3-2 losses to Bournemouth and Aston Villa on Saturday (5 October) and it may be a case of who can score more at Goodison Park.
