Everton complete due diligence as David Moyes contact made in new update

The Everton hierarchy has completed their due diligence and spoken to David Moyes as a possible replacement for Sean Dyche, Graeme Bailey has said.

Following his exit from West Ham this summer, the Scot has been linked with a return to Goodison Park [TBR Football], with the current manager facing pressure already.

While Dyche’s team have finally escaped the relegation zone with five points from their last three matches, four consecutive league losses to open the campaign were enough to throw doubt over his job.

Speaking via Everton News on Thursday (10 October), Bailey said: “Obviously, they have spoken to David Moyes – the hierarchy have spoken to him. Done their due diligence on what’s out there.”

Everton to sack Sean Dyche and hire David Moyes?

Sacking Dyche and hiring Moyes would seem like a bit of a confusing decision, especially given the other names being connected with the job at Goodison Park.

While Gareth Southgate looks to have ruled himself out of contention, former Chelsea and Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri [TEAMtalk] and Graham Potter have both been linked [TBR Football].

Dyche has done a brilliant job with the Toffees since taking over in January 2023, especially leading the club the way he did last term despite two separate points deductions from the Premier League.

The Blues eventually finished 14 points above the dropzone, but with football being a results-based business, historical achievements do not last very long, especially in this kind of situation.

Though the Toffees are currently out of the bottom three spots, they could easily slip back in if results are not up to scratch after the international break.

It seems only a matter of time before Dyche is replaced at the helm, but choosing Moyes to follow in his footsteps feels like a rather sideward move.
