Everton make new backroom hire as news emerges from Finch Farm

Everton have appointed Mark Quayle as their new academy national recruitment lead, which has been confirmed via his LinkedIn profile.

The Liverpool Echo reported on 11 October that the club have made changes in their recruitment team and are in the hunt to make new appointments as well.

Quayle, who briefly spent time at Arsenal, was the Toffees’ lead scout for the 13-18 age group and has been handed a promotion.

Everton are set for more restructuring post the takeover

This change marks the beginning of what could be a significant overhaul within the club’s youth scouting and development structure.

It indicates Everton’s commitment to bolstering their youth academy, which is crucial given the financial constraints and the increasing importance of homegrown talent in football.

With the Friedkin Group’s impending takeover, anticipated to bring substantial investment and strategic oversight, there’s a feeling that this could be just the first step in a broader restructuring.

The Friedkin Group, known for their ownership of AS Roma and their approach to football management, might look to align the Toffees’ academy with best practices from across their portfolio, potentially leading to more comprehensive changes in recruitment strategies, coaching staff and overall academy philosophy.

Given their work at Roma, they may give things some time before making wholesale changes but would want close to what they deem an ideal backroom team before the Toffees being next season in their new stadium.

In other Everton news, a Toffees star player is now ready for a new adventure with a title-chasing club waiting in the wings to sign him.
