Everton fans rightly buzzing as Dan Friedkin update drops today

Everton fans will be ecstatic with the news emerging that Dan Friedkin is looking to appoint Jose Mourinho at Goodison Park.

The Blues have been linked with Graham Potter, David Moyes and most recently Giovanni van Bronckhorst [Dirilis Postasi] to lead the new era at the club as pressure builds on Sean Dyche.

While all the names mentioned would bring a certain level of pedigree to the Toffees, seemingly Friedkin is aiming for bigger heights on Merseyside and would look to bring in one of his former employees.

Graeme Bailey revealed to Everton.News [13 October] that former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss Mourinho will be one of the top candidates considered for the role should Dyche be sacked, which is looking increasingly likely judging by these reports.

Jose Mourinho and Everton could be a match made in heaven

A staple of the best Everton sides of the Premier League era is their defensive resilience and none in world football come much better in this aspect than Mourinho.

The ‘Special One’ has managed the best sides in the world, loves English football, and more importantly, loves a sporting project.

His relationship with Friedkin from his time managing AS Roma, where he enjoyed Europa Conference League success, would ensure a smooth negotiation process and tempt him away from Fenerbache.

Mourinho is renowned for his bullish approach to man management and tactically his sides are very hard to beat. This combination could be exactly what the Blues need to usher in a new era under the Friedkin ownership.

No Everton fan needs to be sold on Mourinho. A manager of his calibre arriving at Goodison Park would send a message of intent to the rest of the Premier League and is a huge upgrade on the current list of names reportedly considered to replace Dyche.

The aforementioned report from Bailey also mentions the Friedkins are looking towards the long term, which will also be music to supporters’ ears.

Dyche has enjoyed a turnaround in fortunes in recent weeks with no losses in his last three Premier League outings but, regardless of how well he performs this season, opportunities to appoint a manager such as Mourinho, do not come around often.

Unfortunately for the former Burnley boss, he would need to be pushed aside if the green light is given for the move.
