Kevin Thelwell can make Joyskim Dawa first January signing at Everton amid £4m news
Everton have had a disappointing start to the season as they find themselves 16th in the Premier League, just two points clear of the drop zone.
The Toffees’ last couple of games before the international break against Crystal Palace and Newcastle United saw things turn around somewhat, but it still feels like there’s more to come from Sean Dyche’s men.
Defensively, Everton have been quite poor this term. Jarrad Branthwaite has been sidelined for the vast majority of the season thus far, but his teammates should be able to cover for him in his absence.
However, that hasn’t been the case just yet. Michael Keane and James Tarkowski have been Dyche’s preferred options and, while the latter of the two has put in a few decent performances, Keane has been way off the pace.
So, it hasn’t come as much of a surprise to see the Toffees linked with £4m Europa League ace Joyskim Dawa to bolster their ranks [the Mirror, 13 October].
Everton should sign Joyskim Dawa
The 28-year-old is something of a late bloomer. He currently plies his trade for Steaua Bucharest in Romania and has been handed a Man of the Match award in the Europa League this term.
The Mirror reported on 12 October that the Cameroon international has a £4million release clause within his current deal and that his dream is to move to the Premier League.
He’s been one of Bucharest’s best players this term and for the bargain fee he’s available for, Dawa seems like a steal.
Although Everton have four senior centre-backs within their current squad, Dyche’s refusal to test out Jake O’Brien and Branthwaite’s recent injuries have hindered them.

Dawa would be a safe bet and, even if a move didn’t work out, they’d likely get the £4m release clause they’d have to pay back if they were to sell him.
It’s still early in the season of course, and things could turn around for Dyche and his men, but there’s no denying that a couple of January reinforcements would help them along their way – Dawa being one of them.
