Sean Dyche exit verdict emerges at Everton as Dan Friedkin to make contract call

Phil McNulty has shared a new Sean Dyche exit verdict, admitting he doesn’t expect him to leave Everton before the end of the season.

The Toffees boss had come under pressure from fans and pundits alike early on this season, particularly after the Friedkin Group agreed a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake at Goodison.

Although BBC journalist McNulty doesn’t expect the new owners to rush to make a change in the dugout, he does admit that he would be surprised to see Dyche extend his current contract beyond the end of the season.

Writing on the BBC Sport live blog (14 October, 13:45) he said: “I would be surprised if anything happened with Sean Dyche this season because Everton’s sole priority is to stay in the Premier League and he has a track record of being able to do that.

“On the other side of that coin, I would also be surprised to see Sean Dyche lead Everton into their new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock next season as when – as seems certain – Dan Friedkin completes his takeover, history tells us new owners want their own men and the timing will coincide with the end of Dyche’s contract.”

Will Sean Dyche exit Everton after Goodison Park takeover updates?

As McNulty says, Dyche has an excellent record when it comes to avoiding the drop into the Championship across his time at Goodison Park and Burnley.

But on the face of it, it seems unlikely the Englishman is the sort of manager new owners will be looking to build a club around. His football is by no means the most exciting and he tends to favour a domestic approach when it comes to recruitment.

Of course, there is always a chance that the Friedkins could enjoy working with Dyche when they complete their acquisition of the Toffees and therefore decide to extend his stay beyond the end of the season.

Ultimately, no decision has yet been made and at the moment journalists and pundits alike are just trying to predict the future.

Who knows what plans the Friedkins have in store for the coming years on Merseyside? Maybe they already have a new manager lined up.
