West Brom stance on Tom Fellows exit shared as Everton eye January transfer
West Brom “won’t be happy” to see Tom Fellows exit The Hawthorns amid transfer interest from Everton, according to Carlton Palmer.
The Toffees are understood to be tracking the Albion winger ahead of the January transfer window as they look to add some fresh legs to their squad to boost their attacking options [Alan Nixon, 27 October].
Although Football League World pundit Palmer believes Fellows is “destined” for the Premier League, he thinks West Brom would be “foolish” to sanction his sale midway through a season.
Speaking to Football League World (30 October) he said: “One of their players that has been outstanding for them is Tom Fellows. Everton have been tracking him.
“They have been tracking the 21-year-old for some time. He’s capped by the under-21s and, again, any deal will hinge on Everton receiving a cash injection with the Toffees in the midst of a takeover.
“West Brom won’t be happy to lose such a talented player, but they did expect that it may have happened in the summer. It’s believed that Everton are looking for fresh legs in their attack as they look to bolster their survival hopes.
“They need to keep hold of young Fellows. He has started the season really well, they want to get a promotion this season. He’s their prized asset and to lose him mid-season would be strange.
“They’ve had a takeover themselves, Carlos Coberan has done really well, so I think that they’d be foolish to sell him at this moment in time.
“West Brom hold all of the cards. He signed a three-and-a-half-year contract extension, so his deal doesn’t run out until the summer of 2027.
“If he moves to Everton, because of the situation they are in, he’s going to play in the Premier League, and that’s where this boy is destined to play. So, it’d be a good move for him because West Brom are still going to have it all on.
“From West Brom’s point of view, it’s not a good time to sell Fellows, but it’d be a good buy for Everton and a good move for the player.”
Will Tom Fellows exit West Brom amid Everton transfer speculation?
Everton aren’t expected to have loads of money to spend in the summer transfer window, even if the Friedkin Group’s takeover is completed before the new year.
That means Dyche and his recruitment team may have to look to the Championship if they want to add to their squad and they could certainly do a lot worse than Fellows who has impressed at The Hawthorns.

The 21-year-old may have only broken into Carlos Corberan’s first team last season, but he has quickly become undroppable, with his pace and work rate making him crucial to the Baggies boss’ plans this season.
Ultimately, any deal for the winger is unlikely to be cheap, but every club has their asking price. If the Toffees manage to match or better West Brom’s valuation, they will struggle to reject that offer.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Toffees act on their interest when January does roll around. Dyche could certainly do with an injection of pace into his squad when the window opens once again.
