Goodison Park farewell plans shared as Everton lodge Liverpool City Council application

Everton have lodged an application with the Liverpool City Council to play live music and serve alcohol as they bid farewell to Goodison Park, as per Birkenhead news.

The outlet reported on its website [2 November] that the Blues are planning to have music, film and dance events on no more than three days between 19 May and 2 June, with the club seeking a limited licence to permit the sale of alcohol.

The Toffees are set to say goodbye to the stadium that has been their home for 133 years and move to the Bramley-Moore Dock at the start of next season.

Everton will forever cherish Goodison Park

Goodison Park has seen the ups and downs of Everton over the last century, from winning First Division titles and FA Cups to battling relegation in recent years.

The Toffees have seen it all, and one thing the stadium can boast is that it has never not seen Premier League football, having never been relegated from the division as it is known now.

Goodison is an icon with a capacity of 39,572, but the move to the new stadium will usher the club into a new era and let more fans enjoy their team play.

Bramley-Moore Dock will be capable of holding 52,888 fans inside, a significant increase, although some feel it could’ve been higher than that.

Sean Dyche has to be commended for how he has handled the challenges at Everton despite the instability and uncertainty in the hierarchy.

The Friedkin Group are expected to complete their takeover of the Toffees, and supporters have something to look forward to with the new owners.

But in the periphery of it all, Goodison can never be forgotten, and it’s only fitting that the club give it the farewell it deserves.
