Everton face Jose Mourinho issue as Bright Osayi-Samuel transfer hunt revealed

Everton are interested in signing Bright Osayi-Samuel in the January transfer window, but Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is keen on keeping a hold of the defender, according to TBR Football.

The news outlet reports [8 November] that the Nigerian’s current contract at the club expires in the summer of 2025, although the Portuguese manager wants the Turkish club to tie him down to a new deal.

The Toffees and Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are looking to exploit the right-back’s situation and hoping Fenerbahce will be forced to part ways with the 26-year-old in the upcoming window.

Everton could do with Bright Osayi-Samuel

With Seamus Coleman out injured, Sean Dyche has heavily relied on Ashley Young to play on the right-hand side of the defence this season.

While the 39-year-old has put in some decent displays, being one of the best players on the pitch despite the 1-0 loss to Southampton on 2 November, the Blues need to find a replacement.

As for Coleman, he has been injury-prone for several seasons now, and it would be prudent of the Toffees to look for the Irishman’s successor at the club.

Osayi-Samuel has seen his stock rise in Turkey after being a key player for the Yellow Canaries over the years.

The Nigeria international also has experience of English football, having spent time at Blackpool and QPR.

Nathan Patterson showed immense promise last season before he was sidelined by injury, but despite the Scotsman’s emergence at Goodison Park, the club still need to add more depth in the right-back spot in the coming months.
