David Moyes backed for Everton job as new Premier League prediction drops
The Esk has projected that Everton will finish with 33 points in the Premier League this season, putting them at risk of relegation.
Sean Dyche is under pressure at the club, with the Blues sitting sixteenth, and he is said to know his days at Goodison Park may be numbered.
Everton are hovering above the relegation zone, and writing on his X account [10 November], The Esk backed David Moyes to take charge once again.
“Based on Dyche’s career record as a manager (weighted average per all current Premier League opposition clubs) and his relative performance this season (clubs played against so far versus historic weighted average performance), I project we will finish on 33 points,” he wrote.
When quizzed on who he would have instead of Dyche, he wrote: “I’d have Moyes in, on an 18-month contract with a 12-month extension option.”
David Moyes could be right appointment for Everton
Dyche has done well in securing the Toffees’ Premier League status in the last few seasons, but the former Burnley head coach has failed to take the team further than that.
The Blues lost their first four fixtures of the season, and no one would’ve been surprised if the English manager was sacked back then.
Everton have kept faith in Dyche, and while the five-game unbeaten run in the league was encouraging, the 1-0 loss to Southampton on 2 November undid all the good work before that.
Moyes has a prior history with the Toffees, having spent years in the dugout before moving to Manchester United, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll make a return.
While the Scotsman’s stock has gone down after his failed stint at Old Trafford, the 61-year-old renewed his reputation at West Ham, lifting the Conference League title during his time there.
The Goodison Park faithful might be apprehensive toward Moyes due to his pragmatic style of play, but that’s what they need at the moment to restore their position in the English top flight.
