Everton timeline for new Dominic Calvert-Lewin contract emerges
Dominic Calvert-Lewin could still sign a new contract once the Friedkin Group takeover is completed, according to TEAMtalk.
The online news outlet noted that Newcastle United are still interested in potentially signing the 27-year-old striker on a free transfer when his contract expires in June.
Calvert-Lewin is said to be open to a move to a St James’ Park but TEAMtalk’s report adds that “it isn’t impossible” he signs fresh terms with the Toffees once the Friedkin Group takeover is ratified.
Retaining Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be huge for Everton
Although his performances so far this season haven’t caught the eye as such, Calvert-Lewin is a very good Premier League striker and his departure would weaken the Everton side significantly.
His goal record at Goodison Park is solid, having notched on 70 occasions in the 258 appearances he has made for the Toffees, while registering 19 assists in that time as well meaning he averages a goal contribution every 2.89 games.
Considering the predicament that the club have found itself in over recent years, his return is excellent and it is a scary thought to consider where the club could be without him.

Despite having scored just twice so far this season, he’s a striker who will excel if Everton are able to add quality to the creative areas of the team that has been lacking under Sean Dyche and the imminent takeover could provide the funds to do so.
It comes as no surprise to see clubs interested in a deal for his services although it is something that the club simply can’t afford to entertain.
