Everton transfer timeline emerges for Tariq Lamptey deal
Everton may bring a right-back to Goodison Park on a loan deal during the January transfer window, according to Graeme Bailey.
The transfer specialist was speaking to Everton News (19 November) and shared that while a loan deal for a right-back might be on the cards for the Toffees in January, Tariq Lamptey won’t be making the switch even though he’s “definitely” on their radar.
Bailey went into further detail about Lamptey’s situation and shared that Sean Dyche’s men aren’t the only ones vying for his services.
“I spoke to people around him (Lamptey). It won’t be in January, but he’s out of contract in the summer, and he’s certainly on their radar,” he said.
“From what I can gauge, I don’t think Everton are keen on spending a whole lot in January, just because there are going to be a lot of changes coming at the club with the Friedkins and the squad.
“Obviously there are going to be a lot of changes coming over the next 12 months. I think they may bring a right-back in, whether that’s on loan and Lamptey is definitely on their radar. Although, he has got a lot of interest abroad.”
Tariq Lamptey would be a stellar transfer for Everton
While it’s evident that the Toffees need further reinforcement to help bolster their chances of Premier League survival, as Bailey said, it’s unlikely that they’ll splash a lot of cash even when The Friedkin Group takes over.
They already made a fair few additions to their ranks over the summer and while players such as Jake O’Brien haven’t been afforded as much of a chance in the first team as he would’ve likely wanted, others such as Iliman Ndiaye have made the world of difference on the pitch.
Although the move for Lamptey wouldn’t happen in January, it feels like he’d be the perfect replacement for club captain Seamus Coleman when his retirement eventually comes around.

Loan moves seem to make the most sense for Everton to try and pursue because then that way, if things change at the club such as the manager, the Toffees won’t be stuck with players who aren’t wanted.
There’s still plenty of time for decisions to be made but if nobody arrives on the blue side of Merseyside in January, the Toffees could find themselves in some serious trouble.
In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has been shown the obvious mistake he’s been making with Iliman Ndiaye each week.
