Michael Ball shares new Everton concern amid ‘abysmal’ verdict at Goodison Park
Michael Ball believes Everton have a new “concern” at regarding where their goals are going to come from for the rest of the season.
This term, the Toffees have scored just 10 Premier League goals with only Southampton having a lower return with nine to their name.
Writing for the Liverpool ECHO, former Everton man Ball shared his thoughts on the Toffees’ attacking situation.
“We’ve got a motto that hasn’t been used for a very long time top to bottom at Everton Football Club,” he wrote.
“With this run that we’ve got coming up, the concern has to be where the goals are going to come from. Sean Dyche needs to start being braver because these performances have been abysmal.
“The situation we had last season, that’s gone. This season is all about trying to improve on last year and the manager feels like he’s got a better squad, but we’re not getting the best out of the players.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin needs to step up at Everton soon
Although Everton may have three senior strikers within their ranks, none of them have performed to the standards expected of them this term.
Of course, Armando Broja has been out with an injury since his Goodison Park arrival but that doesn’t mean that Calvert-Lewin and Beto should be let off for their poor form in front of goal.
However, when the Englishman isn’t part of Dyche’s team, the Toffees seem a lot more lacklustre and poor on the pitch.

His contract is set to expire at the end of the season and although Everton have already entered talks about extending his stay, nothing has yet been agreed upon.
Only time will tell whether Everton can avoid a Premier League relegation battle this season and for them to have that happen, Dyche needs to try and get more out of his number nines otherwise the 2024/25 season could be the one where the Toffees’ Premier League status is taken away from them.
