Phil McNulty predicts when Dan Friedkin could sack Sean Dyche at Everton
Phil McNulty believes the Friedkin Group just wants Sean Dyche to keep Everton “relatively safe” this season.
The 53-year-old has had his future questioned at the club more than once this term due to the poor performances of his team.
Replying to a fan’s question via the BBC Sport Website (25 November, 15:04) about whether Dyche has a future at the club, BBC chief McNulty shared his thoughts on the situation.
“I think the scenario the new owners would like is for Dyche to somehow keep Everton relatively safe to survive in the Premier League going into the new stadium next season, then make a change,” he wrote.
“I can only see a potential change if Everton suddenly look in dire danger of going down – and they do have a very tough run of fixtures coming up.
“However, the mood does appear to have changed over the past few weeks, so Dyche needs wins very quickly.”
Sean Dyche doesn’t have long to seal his future at Everton
As most people know, the former Burnley boss’ contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
With this in mind, it becomes clearer why the club haven’t chosen to part ways with their boss just yet.
The Toffees are obviously still under some financial constraints after their PSR troubles last season that saw them get deducted points on two separate occasions.
This is likely one of the reasons there wasn’t a massive overhaul of the team in the summer as Farhad Moshiri probably didn’t have all that much to spend.
Dan Friedkin is set to take over the club at any point now after what feels like a lifetime of the team being up for sale.

The final date for the takeover is rumoured to be around the middle of December, which, for the upcoming January transfer window, is ideal.
Once the Friedkin Group do take the reins from Moshiri, it’s likely that fans will start to see change almost instantaneously which is exactly what Everton need.
