TFG to pay for Dyche to be sacked in overall Everton purchase price

Sean Dyche could be sacked before Farhad Moshiri sells Everton to The Friedkin Group, according to The Esk.

Writing via his personal Blue Sky account on Monday (25 November), Paul Quinn – a reliable journalist who knows the Toffees’ behind-the-scenes situation inside out – reported that it would cost the Blues under £3million to terminate Dyche’s contract.

When someone replied to Quinn’s post saying that Moshiri won’t pay that amount of compensation to the under-performing Everton boss, he replied that Dan Friedkin’s group could include the sum of the severance package in the “overall purchase price” of their takeover.

TFG are expected to finalise their takeover at Goodison Park before the end of the calendar year.

Friedkin to pay Dyche sack compensation in Everton takeover twist

It makes sense.

At the end of the day, Friedkin will want his newest asset to be in top shape when he becomes it’s new owner.

And under Dyche’s leadership, Everton are anything but that.

It would be harsh to sit here and tear Dyche to shreds for the work he’s done at Everton this season because it’s a lot more nuanced than simply saying, ‘he’s doing badly and should be doing better’.

The former Burnley manager has had to deal with some of the hardest financial restrictions we’ve ever seen in the Premier League.

Despite suffering two points deductions last season and having the continual issue of dealing with PSR, he’s managed to stop Everton from dropping into the Championship.

Performances and results so far this season also suggest that Dyche will keep the Blues afloat in the top flight and ensure they begin life at Bramley-Moore Dock as a Premier League club and not in the second tier against a team like Wycombe Wanderers.

If Everton sack Dyche now, there might be that initial new manager bounce or an interim boss who the squad knows might be able to get something out of them for a few weeks.

But Friedkin coming in isn’t going to cure Everton’s PSR woes straight away and if there’s one man out there who can ensure this team avoids relegation without doing any major business in January, it’s Dyche.

By all means, get rid of him in the summer. But getting rid now would be short-sighted and could consign the Toffees to the drop.
