Beto can break the mould at Everton as flaw emerges ahead of Man United clash
Beto could play an important role for Everton in Sunday’s clash against Manchester United despite finding himself on the fringes at Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old is facing an uncertain future on Merseyside and is seemingly heading towards the door as Juventus weigh up a move ahead of the January transfer window [Corrierre dello Sport].
However, Beto can still find a role at the Blues in the meantime and could impact the match at Old Trafford on Sunday, changing the trajectory of his future and overcoming a daunting Everton fact shared by Tony Cascarino live on talkSPORT [1 December, 08:29am].
He said: “The fact is that you can say Everton are the lowest scorers in the Premier League, they’re not a team that takes it to you.”
Beto should start over Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Everton v Manchester United
Despite finding himself behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the pecking order at Everton, Beto has arguably had a more significant impact for his side this season.
The Guinea international replaced his teammate in the closing stages against Fulham and provided the injury-time equaliser in the 1-1 draw.
He was unlucky not to find himself on the scoresheet again in the 1-0 loss against Southampton, as his late strike was eventually ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR check.
Beto has grown frustrated with his lack of playing time at the Blues, and rightfully so; Calvert-Lewin has done nothing to justify his inclusion in the starting lineup over Beto and has only found the back of the net twice in 12 Premier League outings.

Everton have found the back of the net once in the last four league fixtures and failed to score in the previous three against bottom-to-mid-table sides and, will undoubtedly struggle against Manchester United if Sean Dyche persists with Calvert-Lewin.
The Blues are desperate for a focal point in the frontline, and while Armando Broja could prove to be the solution as he nears his return from injury, Dyche needs an answer now as he faces a daunting Premier League run-in to the New Year.
Calvert-Lewin already has one foot out of the door at Goodison Park – it makes no sense to continue giving him minutes with his contract close to expiry and no renewal in sight, not to mention his abysmal form.
Beto could use his physical presence to overwhelm Manchester United’s backline, even if he cannot find a goal himself – selecting him to start well worth the risk.
