Abdoulaye Doucoure exit on cards at Everton as Roma eye January transfer
Abdoulaye Doucoure could leave Everton in January as he is being mentioned as a midfield reinforcement for Roma, according to Leggo.
The Italian newspaper reported via their website on 5 December that the Serie A club could take advantage of Doucoure’s expiring contract if Enzo Le Fee leaves on loan.
However, he is not the only Toffees player on the Rome-based club’s transfer wishlist, with Beto among the “popular names” to strengthen their attack.
The Friedkin Group could hit two birds with one stone by taking Doucoure from Everton to Roma
Doucoure has been a popular figure since arriving at Goodison Park from Watford in 2020, but is set to enter the final six months of his contract.
With the Malian free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs starting January, the Toffees risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Dan Friedkin could, therefore, hit two birds with one stone by luring the 31-year-old to Rome in the January transfer window.
The American billionaire, who owns Roma, is in the process of buying Everton from Farhad Moshiri, with only a Premier League approval pending.
With the takeover expected to be completed in December [The Guardian], Friedkin is seemingly working hard to draw up transfer plans for both of his clubs.
By taking Doucoure to Italy, he could bolster Roma’s midfield options while simultaneously adding some money to Everton’s coffers.
Beto, meanwhile, is likely to find playing time hard to come by in the second half of the season after Armando Broja returned to action in the 4-0 win over Wolves on Wednesday [4 December], meaning the Merseyside-based club would be more than happy to offload him in January.
Roma have already touched base with intermediaries to discuss the possibility of signing the Guinea-Bissau international [Calciomercato.com].
