Chris Sutton has tipped his hat to Sean Dyche after he led Everton to a 4-0 victory over Wolves at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

The Toffees ended their five-game winless run with a thumping victory on 4 December, courtesy of goals from Ashley Young and Orel Mangala, as well as two own goals from Craig Dawson.

Sutton, who branded the result as "tremendous" for the Merseyside-based club, expressed his delight at seeing Dyche prove his doubters wrong.

"Tremendous win for Sean Dyche and Everton. Proving his doubters wrong again", the pundit wrote on X [4 December].

Young's free-kick in the 10th minute was the Goodison Park outfit's first goal since October. They marked the occasion by adding another three, albeit with some help from Dawson.

Nevertheless, Dyche will be glad to have claimed all three points ahead of a tough set of fixtures, starting with Liverpool at home on Saturday [7 December].

The Toffees also face Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and sixth-placed Nottingham Forest between now and the end of the season.

The win against Wolves is, therefore, a huge relief as Everton are now placed 15th in the table, sitting five points above the relegation zone.

Dyche and co can also take confidence from the result as they prepare for the first Merseyside derby of the season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, go into the game on the back of a rather disappointing 3-3 draw against Newcastle United on Wednesday.

While the two teams are separated by 21 points, no one can predict what will happen in a derby and one can only wonder if an upset is on the cards.
