Darren Bent drops surprise Chelsea admission live on air ahead of Everton clash

Darren Bent has been surprised by Chelsea’s form ahead of their clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Toffees are just three points above the Premier League relegation zone after 15 matches, leaving Sean Dyche on the brink of losing his job on Merseyside, and rightly so.

Enzo Maresca’s side are huge favourites for the clash on 22 December, though the Blues have been known to slip up when the two sides meet at either Goodison Park or Stamford Bridge.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [20 December, 4:08pm], Bent said: “They’ve just got so much quality. They’ll drop points, don’t get me wrong, but they are ahead of where I expect them to be at this point.”

Everton to steal points from Chelsea at Goodison Park?

While the most recent meeting saw the Toffees absolutely hammered 6-0 at Stamford Bridge last season, they have been known to pick up points against the London team.

Everton have won or drawn five of the last eight meetings so Sunday’s clash should promise a very entertaining game in front of an incredibly excited and emotional crowd.

Supporters have welcomed the news of The Friedkin Group’s completed takeover, also meaning the end of Farhad Moshiri’s reign on Merseyside. The Goodison Park crowd should be electric.

Dan Friedkin is unlikely to be in attendance when the two sides kick off at 2pm on Sunday afternoon [Ben Jacobs], but the fans and players will still be in fine voice as Chelsea walk into a cauldron.

Dyche has a very obvious chance to prove to the new owners what he is capable of as Everton manager. It has been a tough campaign so far but things are finally looking up.

In other Everton news, David Moyes has shared a new relegation prediction, with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer in agreement.
