Sean Dyche may have to rethink Everton plans after what Kyle Walker said

Sean Dyche may have to rethink his plans for Everton over Christmas after Kyle Walker revealed what will be happening inside the Manchester City camp.

The Toffees travel to the Etihad on Thursday [26th December] for the early 12:30pm kick-off.

After getting a point against Arsenal and then Chelsea in the last two weeks, Dyche will surely be hoping his side can take advantage of the poor form Pep Guardiola’s side find themselves in currently.

With that in mind, the Blues boss may be keen to altar his plans over the festive period after Walker revealed [via Fabrizio Romano on X]: “We’re going to train on Christmas Day this season, we’ve got Everton at 12:30 on Boxing Day.”

“But the last couple of seasons we’ve had Christmas Day off, which has been very nice.”

Everton need to take advantage of Manchester City

The Toffees would surely have been looking at their December fixtures with some fear as they prepared to face the top sides in the league.

However, Dyche has managed his side well and the Blues have managed to get good points against two of the sides in the top three, while their final Goodison Park game against Liverpool was postponed due to Storm Darragh.

With this in mind, the Merseyside club have to be looking at a Boxing Day game against City with their eyes on another point at least.

Guardiola’s side have just one win in 12 games, meaning they are there for the taking, regardless of the quality they have.

That being said, Walker’s comments suggest the manager is starting to feel the pressure and as a result, is ramping up the preparation for Thursday’s game in the hope of starting to get back on track.

Therefore, the Blues boss has no choice but to make sure his team are also in at Finch Farm on Christmas Day to train, ensuring they too are giving themselves the best chance to go and get something from this game.

With the Toffees still ultimately struggling at the wrong end of the table, it’s an opportunity they cannot afford to miss.

In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher identified a worrying trend with the club’s signings since Sean Dyche’s arrival.
