Sean Dyche contract claim emerges at Everton after meetings with TFG
The Friedkin Group have been urged to stick by Sean Dyche at Everton until the end of the season.
As reported by the Daily Mirror [page 4, 21 December], new Everton chief executive Mark Watts reassured Dyche in a meeting on Friday 19 December that the manager is backed by the Friedkin Group, who have now completed their takeover at Goodison Park.
The Everton boss’ play style has still been questioned, with Richard Keys recently taking a swipe at the Toffees after back-to-back goalless draws in the Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes Dyche deserves the chance to fight for a new contract and should remain in charge of the Toffees at least until the end of the season
“I’ve said all along that Dyche has done a good job,” King said.
“The worst thing that they can do is relieve him of his duties. Let him do the job until the end of the season, and then if they want to offer him a new contract, good. However, let him get the job done this season.
“If he messes up, cheerio. However, let’s be fair, he kept them up last year and it seems as though some of their problems are fading away. Therefore, I think Dyche deserves to be left to manage until the summer, and then if the Friedkin Group are happy with him, they might look at him for the future.”
Sean Dyche to be offered new Everton contract by the Friedkin Group?
Dyche will be relieved to learn that he has the backing of Everton’s new owners, and after impressive draws with Arsenal and Chelsea, it doesn’t seem as though he will be going anywhere anytime soon.
He has the chance to continue proving pundits, such as Chris Sutton, wrong when the Toffees take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Boxing Day [26 December].

And a positive result against Pep Guardiola’s side could see the 53-year-old take one step closer to potentially earning a new contract on Merseyside.
