Henry Winter shares Sean Dyche Everton sack verdict after Manchester City draw

Henry Winter believes that Sean Dyche is “making a good case” for keeping his role as Everton manager after their draw against Manchester City on Boxing Day.

Dyche’s men left the Etihad with a point to add to their Premier League tally after Iliman Ndiaye managed to bag an equaliser for the Toffees which resulted in the game ending 1-1.

The Merseyside may well have remained 15th in the Premier League but they seem to be slowly clawing their way out of the relegation battle.

“Sean Dyche making a good case for keeping his job in the Friedkin era. He’s not fashionable, he’s not that loved by all Everton fans but he organises and motivates teams well. On a budget,” he wrote via his personal X account (26 December).

“James Tarkowski embodies a Dyche team. Unspectacular, determined, effective. Friedkins may want a statement appointment as a new manager, someone offering more expansive football, more in keeping with the magnificent new stadium and ambitious new era.

“But Dyche deserves respect for what he’s achieved in difficult circumstances”.

Sean Dyche is the right man for Everton

Although it may have taken the Toffees a bit of time to get their form into full swing at the start of the campaign, it feels like they’re really finding their mojo.

They may not have won any of their last three games but the fact they’ve drawn against each of Arsenal, Chelsea and City is nothing short of remarkable.

As Winter touched upon, this is largely due to the industrious performances of Everton’s defence recently but the fact they’re even earning a point from any of the three title challengers is a success in itself.

The Friedkin Group may well not be looking to extend the Englishman’s stay in Merseyside upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season but when the Toffees’ current form is taken into account, it feels silly for them not to.

The 53-year-old is a top-flight survival specialist and at this moment in time, it’s hard to see how any manager could do better with what Dyche has at his disposal and, although fans may be unhappy with his play style, it’s hard to deny that it isn’t getting them the results they need.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has been mooted to take up a new role within the Friedkin Group’s umbrella if his contract isn’t extended.
