O’Hara and Cundy make Man City title jibe after what happened v Everton
Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy were quick to fire digs at Manchester City following a 1-1 draw against Everton on Thursday.
Bernardo Silva opened the scoring inside 15 minutes at the Etihad on 26 December, only for Iliman Ndiaye to fire past Stefan Ortega before the half-time break.
Pep Guardiola’s side are now sitting seventh in the Premier League, and after referencing their 130 charges [The Times], the jokes about relegation began to flow live on air.
Speaking live via talkSPORT [26 December], O’Hara said: “You’ll be back… You’ll be back, it might be in the Championship, but you’ll be back.”
Cundy continued: “You know what… I reckon next season, you’ll win the title. I reckon you’ll win the Championship next season!”
Everton take advantage of Manchester City downfall
Sean Dyche’s team took full advantage of Man City’s fall from grace at the Etihad Stadium, securing their third straight draw following goalless results against Arsenal and Chelsea.
While the Toffees remain just three points above the relegation zone right now, The Friedkin Group’s takeover has added an air of positivity around Merseyside.
The manager is certainly still under pressure due to the team’s position in the Premier League table, but after the Toffees’ two separate points deductions last season, fans will be happy to see Man City getting a taste of their own medicine.
Jokes and jibes are likely to be made about the current Premier League champions until their hearing actually happens and the results are confirmed, but who can blame supporters of rival clubs?
The Blues did extremely well to survive the dropzone last term, even finishing 14 points above 18th-place Luton Town in the end, but those same fears have emerged at Goodison Park again.
If Dyche’s team can produce similar performances for the rest of the campaign, they should have no trouble staying afloat in the top division. More points are definitely needed, though.
