Everton identify new striker as Wolves transfer race on for Bundesliga star
Everton and Wolves are fighting it out to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker Tim Kleindienst in January, according to Bild.
The German news outlet has reported, as relayed by Sport Witness [27 December], that the Premier League duo have been left thoroughly impressed with Kleindienst’s exploits in the Bundesliga this season.
Sean Dyche is set to lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin as his Goodison Park contract expires at the end of the season, with Serie A sides reportedly keen to make their move to sign the striker on a pre-contract agreement.
Everton could replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Tim Kleindienst
Newcastle United had effectively agreed upon all the terms with Everton to bring Calvert-Lewin to St James’ Park in the summer, before a move ultimately collapsed in the final stages [TEAMtalk].
Since then, he has managed to score only two goals in 17 Premier League appearances for the Blues, and it’s safe to say no Evertonian will be too disheartened to see the forward end his eight-year spell on Merseyside on the basis of his current form.
Kevin Thelwell has been scouring the European market in preparation for the seemingly inevitable departure, leading him to Rangers forward Hamza Igamane after the Moroccan left the Toffees scouts “very impressed” with his performance against Tottenham in the Europa League [TBR Football].
However, with West Ham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham, Newcastle United and Europa League finalists Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen also interested in his services, Everton may be forced to look elsewhere.

Kleindienst has emerged as one of the most prolific goalscorers in the Bundesliga in the latter years of his career.
He contributed 14 goals and five assists in 35 games for Heidenheim last term, earning him a move to Monchengladbach, where he has continued his form with nine goals and six assists in 17 appearances.
Considering the German international is approaching his 30s, Everton could negotiate a cut-price fee for a forward tearing up the Bundesliga. As Wolves linger in the relegation zone, they will not be expected to put up much of a fight for his signature.
Whether or not Monchengladbach will be willing to part ways with the forward six months after his arrival, however, remains to be seen.
