Bellew namedrops Mourinho in response to Everton question he’s asked about Dyche
Tony Bellew believes that Dan Friedkin is going to run Everton on a no-nonsense basis after what he’s done with Roma in the past.
The Friedkin Group finally completed their takeover of the Toffees a couple of weeks ago and with the January transfer window just around the corner, questions are already being asked about what their future plans are.
One of those questions surrounds the future of Sean Syche, with Friedkin having sacked the likes of Jose Mourinho, Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric during his ownership of Roma.
As such, Bellew does not foresee the Friedkin Group wasting time if they want to make a change.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (30 December, 14:40pm), Bellew was asked about his thoughts on the Friedkin’s taking over Everton and shared why he thinks their takeover will be a good thing for the Merseyside outfit.
“I don’t know what the future holds and Dan Friedkin will know what he’s doing, you can see with the job he’s done at Roma, he’s not going to be messing around,” he said.
“He’s not going to be messing around with any managers, anything he doesn’t like or like the look of, you’re going to be out the door.
“If you can sack Mourinho, you can sack anyone”.
Dan Friedkin needs to get Everton fans on his side in January
While fans will no doubt be jubilant that Farhad Moshiri now has nothing to do with Everton, there is still an air of uncertainty during the early days of the Friedkin Group’s ownership with fans waiting to see how they implement their plans for progress.
Of course, the takeover process was extremely long and drawn out but fortunately for the American businessmen, the deal was completed just before the January transfer window, which provides an early opportunity to perhaps display their ambition.
Indeed, the Premier League’s PSR rules will need to be taken into account, so a massive winter spending is unlikely to be on the cards but it certainly feels like there’s room for a few new faces in Sean Dyche’s squad, especially in the striker department.

So far this term, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has just struggled to get firing, while Beto has massively underwhelmed and Armando Broja has only recently returned to fitness after joining injured on loan from Chelsea.
If reinforcement isn’t sourced in January, things could quickly go south and Everton could perhaps end up in a worse place than where they currently find themselves which wouldn’t likely bode all that well with their fans.
In other Everton news, the Blues could seal a move for a Newcastle ace who has played 16 league matches this season.
