Everton fans will be in hysterics as Neal Maupay trolled in eight-word message
Everton supporters have no love lost for Neal Maupay that is for sure.
The relationship between the Toffees faithful and the French striker, who is technically still on the books at Goodison Park, was already fraught.
But that uneasy relationship was worsened when Maupay, out on loan at Marseille, decided to poke fun at his parent club following the Toffees’ 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Posting on X after the game, Maupay wrote: “Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile.”
The Toffees said they would deal with the matter internally, although what actual punishment they could administer remains to be seen.
But angry Blues fans will have been cheered up by a post by Liverpool John Lennon Airport, with a brutal trolling of Maupay sure to have left supporters in hysterics.
An X user asked: “What’s worse than missing your flight?”
The official account for the airport replied: “Not much. Maybe watching Neal Maupay play football.”
This was followed up by another post which read: “Didn’t need an agency to post this for us either.”
Neal Maupay has burned all bridges at Everton
Even though he is known for being a wind-up merchant on social media, Maupay’s pleasure at Everton’s defeat against Forest was a bit much, especially for a player who is still technically employed by the Merseyside outfit.
The Toffees don’t have a choice but to be limited in their response as the striker’s loan club Marseille are paying his wages and therefore, they just have to stick it out until they can cut all ties with him in the summer when the Blues will be rid of him for good.
However, the Blues fans and those around the club are not taking his comments as lightly and have been sure to let the 28-year-old know exactly what they think of him and what he had to say on Sunday evening.
The LJLA post will no doubt have put a smile on the face of a few Evertonians who will have been glad to see Maupay get a taste of his own medicine on social media for once.
