Farhad Moshiri gets one last Everton transfer decision spot on before exit

Everton were linked with a move for Eddie Nketiah in the summer but he has since been brandished as the “biggest flop” in the Premier League this season.

Farhad Moshiri came in for his fair share of criticism throughout his time at Everton and when it comes to strikers, he’s certainly had his regrets having failed to sign off on a deal to sign Erling Haaland.

However, his decision against the £30million signing of Nketiah (David Ornstein) is one of the very few good recruitment moves made by the ex-owner with Hendrie now labelling the striker as the “biggest flop of the season” after his move to Crystal Palace (Football365).

Hendrie explained: “I watched him at Arsenal, and although he didn’t play every week, most of his goals came from deliveries into the box.”

While Everton supporters have plenty to fume at Moshiri for, he may need to be thanked for his decision to opt against the signing of Nketiah.

Everton dodged a bullet with Eddie Nketiah

Nketiah’s signing at Crystal Palace hasn’t worked out at all with the forward yet to score a single Premier League goal this season and Everton can be thankful they didn’t sign him.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has hardly set the world alight this campaign but much of that isn’t down to his own doing and instead, the lack of attacking identity installed by Sean Dyche.

Simply put, Nketiah would have faced the same struggles with a distinct lack of service in the forward areas and ultimately, it appears to have been £30m saved on Merseyside.

Especially when it comes to signing English players, prices are massively inflated and that is showcased by what has been a dreadful signing by the Eagles.

The Friedkin Group can take notice of the failed deal before making any moves of their own this January and indeed beyond that.
