Beto in four-way tug of war as £13.2m Everton transfer news emerges

Beto is wanted by four Serie A clubs during the ongoing transfer window as Everton consider letting him go, according to Il Messaggero.

The Rome-based newspaper reported via their website on 2 January that the Guinea-Bissau international is AS Roma’s “goal” as they step up their hunt for a new striker.

However, the 26-year-old is also the subject of interest from Juventus and Torino, while Atalanta have also entered the race in the “last few hours”.

The Toffees, meanwhile, are not interested in letting the former Udinese hitman leave on a straight loan deal and want to include a £13.2million buy option.

Beto nears Everton exit as Friedkin give Roma advantage

The January transfer window might have just opened, but it appears Beto is in high demand in the Italian market.

While four Serie A clubs are interested in acquiring his services, Roma may have an advantage because their owners The Friedkin Group recently bought Everton.

The “synergy” with the new Friedkin club could help the Giallorossi win the race to sign Beto, as per the aforementioned report.

However, it remains to be seen if the Merseyside-based club’s £13.2m demand will become a stumbling block in any of those clubs’ pursuit of the centre-forward.

The Goodison Park outfit coughed up £25.75m to sign him from Udinese in the summer of 2023 [Sky Sports] and it is easy to see why they want to include a buy option in any loan deal for him.

Beto has bagged only seven goals and two assists from 50 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League club, who are now keen to cut their losses on him.
