Everton relegation: Friedkin verdict drops as The Esk wowed
Everton fans should demand more than a Premier League relegation battle after The Friedkin Group takeover, The Esk says.
The finance analyst is surprised that some Blues supporters are limiting their ambition to just avoiding relegation this season.
Questions have been raised about whether the Friedkins will have a similar opinion about Toffees’ prospects in the current campaign.
The Esk wrote on his personal X account (2 January): “Wow at everyone on here who thinks not being relegated this year is the limit of our ambitions.
“We are all Blues and entitled to our opinions, but seriously? Do you think the Friedkins believe similarly? Come on. Demand more. It will help us going forward.”
Everton need to become competitive again under Dan Friedkin
Dan Friedkin finally completed his takeover of the Merseyside outfit in December and ended Farhad Moshiri’s era.
The British-Iranian businessman’s reign at the Toffees was underwhelming, and the Goodison faithful are undoubtedly delighted to see his back.
Sean Dyche has done a relatively impressive job of maintaining the Blues’ top-flight status after being appointed manager in January 2023.
The English manager has done well in that regard, but many Everton fans have criticised his style of play with little progression being made.
As things stand, the Toffees are 16th in the Premier League table, just two points ahead of 18th-place Ipswich Town in the bottom three.
Dyche pulled off some impressive results against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, but the loss to Nottingham Forest was damaging.
While the former Burnley manager may be the best head coach to help the Blues survive the drop, the Merseysiders must become competitive again.
Bramley-Moore Dock will set the backdrop for a fresh start, and it remains to be seen whether TFG will want Dyche to be the person in charge in the coming months.
In other Everton news, Dyche has dropped an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s transfer in January.
