Kevin Thelwell to make easy decision on Everton ace after transfer news emerges

Kevin Thelwell could sacrifice Jack Harrison to land a long-term transfer target for Everton.

According to The Athletic (2 January), Aston Villa will listen to loan offers for Jaden Philogene in January, only four months since he rejected a move to the Blues in the summer.

The Toffees reached an agreement worth £18 million with the Championship outfit before he opted to return to Aston Villa [Sky Sports], and he is now eager to secure another move in search of regular first team football.

However, a prospective move to Goodison Park in January will be contingent on the future of Leeds United loanee Harrison.

Everton should terminate Jack Harrison loan to sign Jaden Philogene

Everton already occupies two allocated domestic loan spots, with Harrison spending his second consecutive loan year on Merseyside and Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea.

Therefore, one loan deal must be terminated to leave a spot open for Philogene, should Sean Dyche decide to reignite his interest in the forward.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto facing uncertain futures at Goodison Park, Broja will undoubtedly remain put on the off chance one and/or both forwards are allowed to depart in January.

Although Liverpool Echo journalist Chris Beesley reported on Wednesday (1 January) that Harrison is expected to remain with the Blues until the end of his loan deal, the availability of Philogene certainly changes matters.

Harrison has struggled for consistency at Goodison Park and has yet to register a single goal contribution in the Premier League despite becoming a regular starter under Dyche.

It is clear that the 28-year-old is incapable of making a valuable impact in the top flight, and with the Blues only two points clear of safety, there is no room for sentimentality.

Philogene lit up the Championship last term, contributing 12 goals and six assists for Hull City after narrowly missing out on a play-off berth – his explosiveness, ability to beat a man, and direct approach is desperately lacking among the current crop at Everton.

Thelwell cannot afford to pass up on a golden opportunity to improve the frontline for the Toffees immediately.
