Dan Friedkin to make unpopular Everton decisions after what he did at Roma

Dan Friedkin won’t be afraid to make unpopular decisions to bring “brighter times” to Everton, says talkSPORT host Alex Crook.

The Friedkin Group era at Everton is well underway and will continue with an away clash against Bournemouth on Saturday (4 January) as the attempt to revive an underwhelming season continues.

Under the reign of Farhad Moshiri, the Toffees saw a constant regression with TFG hoping to right the wrongs of the ex-Everton owner.

Crook pinpointed Friedkin’s decision to sack Roma legend Daniele De Rossi as head coach as proof that he will do whatever it take to try and make that happen on the blue half of Merseyside.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (3 January, 12:35 pm), Crook said: “They’re a club who are overdue a bit of success and stability because the last few years have been really difficult. Not at times, I think, for the lack of trying when it came to Moshiri.

“I think his heart was in the right place, but he was just misguided, maybe not the right people around him and certainly didn’t invest properly either in players or managers. But I think Dan Friedkin has shown at Roma that he’s a very ambitious man.

“He’s not afraid of making unpopular decisions, just ask Daniele De Rossi. So, yeah, I think brighter times definitely ahead for Everton.”

Everton can look forward to the future under TFG

Life as an Evertonian has been somewhat miserable over the last few seasons with relegation battle after relegation battle and just very few positives to take out from the club although the hopes will be that it can change in the near future.

TFG have made their ambition evident since day one and if that ambition can become a reality, supporters will earn their rewards for sticking with the club through the hard times of which there have been many.

Under the ownership of Moshiri, Everton never looked capable of progressing and failed transfers matched with poor decisions tainted his time on Merseyside.

As mentioned by Crook, Everton are certainly overdue some success and given the size of the club and the fanbase behind it, those days could be closer than many would expect.

Nevertheless, performances on the pitch right now are what matters the most as the Toffees chase all three points against the Cherries.
