Tony Cottee makes Everton and Tottenham Premier League relegation prediction
Tony Cottee is worried about Everton getting relegated from the Premier League this season.
The Toffees have had another tough season which has left them sitting 16th in the table, two points above the relegation zone.
Although The Friedkin Group’s takeover of the club has now been completed, PSR restrictions will stop the Blues from strengthening too much in the January transfer window and Sean Dyche will have to use a lot of the squad he already has to stay up.
When asked by Alan Brazil on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show (3 January, 8:58am) if he was worried about his former side this term, Cottee admitted: “I am Al, yeah. I’ve been worried all season but they’ve just got to stay in the Premier League.
“I think Leicester are in big trouble as well and [it was a] great result for Ipswich you know, gives them a real chance.
“Wolves are going to fight, Southampton look tailed off now but the rest of the teams are in there you know, there’s some big clubs down there.
“West Ham, you mentioned Tottenham, you mentioned Manchester United you know.
“You get on a bad run of form and five or six games without a win, you’re going to be sucked into that relegation fight.”
Sean Dyche has to keep Everton in the Premier League
While it could feel like a very long second half of the season for the Blues, there is plenty to be optimistic about after the announcement of the takeover and if Dyche can keep his side in the top flight then they will go into next term in a good place.
However, there is plenty of work to be done in the remainder of the season with things so tight at the bottom end of the table making it possible for plenty of sides to get sucked into the battle against relegation.

The Toffees have picked up some good results with points gained against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in December but a poor performance and 2-0 loss against Nottingham Forest reminded supporters that only picking up draws may not be enough.
Whether TFG will choose to stick by the boss until the end of the season is yet to be seen but if the 53-year-old wants to ease some of the pressure, he has to prove he can get his side winning games sooner rather than later.
In other Everton news, Dyche laughs off the mention of Neal Maupay after his controversial comments.
