Friedkin transfer mooted as Beto set to ‘explode’ away from Everton
Beto has been tipped to “explode” once he leaves Everton by Andrea Carnevale.
The Udinese chief scout, who knows Beto from his time at the Serie A club, is surprised that the Toffees do not use him enough.
He understands why the 26-year-old would want to return to Italy, but hinted that Sean Dyche’s side may be making a mistake as he feels it is hard to find players with his qualities.
“He wants to return to Italy? I understand, given that he almost never plays”, Carnevale told La Stampa, as quoted by Tutto Mercato Web (4 January).
“I’m really surprised that he isn’t used at Everton, someone with his qualities is really rare”.
Asked about the possibility of Roma signing Beto, Carnevale suggested that The Friedkin Group ownership of both Everton and the Serie A club could facilitate such a transfer.
“Well, the Friedkins own Everton… I repeat – whoever takes him is getting a great deal, particularly because Beto has yet to really explode”, he added.
Beto to expose Sean Dyche mistake after leaving Everton
The Merseyside-based club shelled out £25.75million to sign Beto from Udinese after the 2022-23 season, during which he bagged 10 goals and an assist in 33 Serie A appearances [Sky Sports].
However, he has struggled to hit similar heights at Goodison Park, managing only seven goals and two assists so far.
The lack of regular playing time has not helped the Guinea-Bissau international’s cause, with Dyche handing him only one league start this season despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling to find the back of the net.
Beto could, therefore, prove Dyche was wrong not to give him more opportunities if or when he seals a move away from Everton this window.

Apart from Roma, Torino, Juventus and Atalanta have also been credited with an interest in signing the former Udinese hitman [Il Messaggero].
The Toffees, though, are not sold on the idea of letting him leave on a straight loan deal and want to include a £13.2m buy option in any agreement.
