Sean Dyche sack: BBC chief shares rogue Everton twist
The Friedkin Group may be forced to sack Sean Dyche at Everton due to “rogue” twist, Phil McNulty has suggested.
The Blues have not won in their last five matches and find themselves teetering on the edge of the relegation zone as a result.
Dyche’s side are currently in 16th place in the Premier League, just one point above the drop zone and pressure is increasing on the former Burnley boss.
BBC Chief football writer McNulty, writing for the broadcaster’s live online blog [6 December] said he believes Dyche could go if the gap on the bottom three decreases further.
He said: “I stand by my original assertion that the ideal scenario for Everton’s new owners would be for Sean Dyche to keep them safe until the end of his contract this season, then I feel sure they will make a change and bring their own manager in.
“It is the “keep them safe” bit which is becoming the rogue in this equation as Ipswich Town and Wolves are showing real signs of picking up while Everton are dismal and have been almost unwatchable in games this season.
“Everton simply must stay up this season with that new stadium on the horizon, Relegation is unthinkable for the new owners, so if they drop into the bottom three – or simply just continue to be as bad as they have been – then the Friedkin Group will have a very big decision to make.”
Sean Dyche on the Everton chopping block?
An update emerged via Sky Sports on Monday (6 January) that The Friedkin Group are now holding talks with regards to the future of Dyche.
A report from Josimar journalist Paul Brown (5 December) claims that the new owners are planning on sorting out the future of sporting director Kevin Thelwell and appointing a new CEO before deciding on the manager.
However, Dyche’s position may become untenable if results continue to trend in the wrong direction and drag the Toffees into another brutal survival battle, which is looking like being the case.

As McNulty says, it is unfathomable that the Blues start their new era at Bramley-Moore Dock in the Championship.
Dyche could find himself on borrowed time on Merseyside in the very near future if he cannot improve results.
The odd good result here and there is fine, but if you are not winning matches and the teams around you are, it will spell trouble and perhaps the end of Dyche’s reign at Goodison Park.
