Sean Dyche sack: Everton to hold press conference today

Sean Dyche will be in attendance at a press conference on Tuesday as speculation grows over his future at Everton, according to Giulia Bould.

The BBC Merseyside journalist posted on X (6 January) that ahead of the FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough United on Thursday, Dyche will hold the pre-match press conference.

Dyche does so under growing scrutiny with the Blues having not won in their last five Premier League games, scoring just once in the process in a run which leaves them one point above the relegation zone.

The Friedkin Group have held crunch talks over the future of Dyche, with concerns starting to grow over his future at Goodison Park (Sky Sports).

Sean Dyche looking to get back on track at Everton

While recording a convincing win against League One opposition shouldn’t give Dyche the reprieve he craves at Goodison Park on 9 January, the 53-year-old will certainly be hoping his side can bounce back.

The Blues failing to score in four of their last five matches – and eight of the last 10 – has seen them slip back into a Premier League relegation battle, but the FA Cup provides a chance to reset their form.

Dyche’s defence-first style of football is seen as a key factor behind their regular goal droughts, but he’ll be keen to buy himself some time in the job by picking up a first win in six against Peterborough.

Dan Friedkin’s takeover and the club’s move to Bramley-Moore Dock this summer suggest changes in the dugout will soon be afoot anyway, but the new Toffees owner doesn’t look like pulling the trigger yet [Paul Brown, 5 January].

The January transfer window is a vital one for the Blues as they look to reinforce a squad looking over its collective shoulders, but it looks as if Dyche will still be the man to oversee their business this month.

In other Everton news, the Blues will match the bid made by a leading European giant to seal a highly-rated transfer this month.
