Everton in talks to sign Jakub Moder as sources share transfer advantage
Everton are in talks to sign Jakub Moder from Brighton during the ongoing transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.
The outlet reported via their website on 8 January that the Seagulls want to cash in on the midfielder after he entered the final six months of his contract at the AMEX Stadium.
Apart from the Toffees, Leicester have also opened discussions to sign the Poland international, but CaughtOffside sources deem the Foxes as “outsiders” in the race due to their precarious financial situation.
Freiburg and Stuttgart, meanwhile, are keeping tabs on Moder’s situation and could make a late swoop for him.
Everton eye Jakub Moder, who has been likened to Sergio Busquets
Moder has grown frustrated with his situation under Fabian Hurzeler, having amassed just eight minutes of Premier League action this season.
Brighton are also not reluctant to sanction the 25-year-old’s exit, with his injury problems increasingly becoming a headache for them.
However, Moder was very highly rated when he initially joined the Premier League club from Lech Poznan in 2020.
Speaking to The Athletic (December 2020), one of Moder’s former coaches said he “looks like a Sergio Busquets”.
While things have not gone according to plan for the Pole at Brighton, he could be a very valuable addition to Everton, who made an attempt to sign him on loan in January last year [The Athletic].

The Toffees are not short of options in midfield, but it is worth noting that Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure have entered the final six months of their contract, while Orel Mangala’s loan deal expires at the end of the season.
A cut-price deal for Moder, therefore, makes sense for the Merseyside-based club this month.
