Everton postponement update v Peterborough as official news emerges

Everton have confirmed that they are set to hold a safety meeting with local authorities to discuss the weather conditions for their FA Cup clash against Peterborough.

The Toffees reported via their Everton Fan Services X account (9 January) that the meeting is set to take place at 1pm on 9 January.

They added that at the moment, the game is still scheduled to go ahead but could be subject to change depending on the weather.

“A safety meeting involving the Club and relevant authorities will be held at 1pm to assess the weather and travel conditions for tonight’s FA Cup fixture against Peterborough United,” they wrote.

“At this stage the match is planned to go ahead as normal and every effort is being made to ensure that remains the case. We will continue to keep fans updated, and will provide more information following the meeting.”

Everton may have yet another game postponed due to adverse weather conditions

The 2024/25 season has so far been one that Toffees fans will likely want to forget as quickly as possible, they currently sit 16th in the Premier League table and are just one point away from the drop zone.

Everton have already had their Merseyside derby against Liverpool postponed this season and due to the snowy conditions over the weekend, the same could happen again.

Of course, the meeting will just be a precautionary measure at this stage with every effort being made to try and allow the game to carry on.

One good thing about the meeting being held so early on in the day is that supporters have plenty of time to plan out their routes should they wish to attend the game.

Their FA Cup tie against Peterborough could end up being one of the most important games of the Toffees’ season as it’s the last competition this term where they can make a good name for themselves.

Only time will tell what the future holds but here’s hoping that the game goes ahead.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have been told that they’ll have to spend big if they want to sign a Championship attacker in January.
