Sam Allardyce ponders TFG question at Everton as new Dyche sack verdict arises

Sam Allardyce has questioned whether The Friedkin Group have enough money to support Everton to get back to where they want to be in the Premier League.

The Friedkins finally took over the Merseyside outfit last month after what seemed to be a rather long and drawn-out process.

The Toffees have, however, already missed out on a January transfer target as Aston Villa ace Jaden Philogene is set to make a switch to Ipswich for a fee worth around £21million [Fabrizio Romano, 8 January].

And, after the news of Graham Potter taking over at West Ham, the future of Sean Dyche has been brought into question with Allardyce backing his fellow Englishman to keep his job.

“Who’s going to make it better [than Dyche], I mean the quality of players that Everton have at the moment means it’s very difficult to play the sort of football that they want,” he said live on talkSPORT (9 January, 09:16am).

“I mean that’s been proven, Sean has got a great reputation, they’ve got no goals so there’s only one thing you can do and that’s make yourself difficult to beat and they’ve done that.

“Have they [The Friedkin Group] got enough money to support the club, make a new regime and find the right players to make Everton better?

“He’s [Dyche] doing a great job with the tools he’s got at Everton at the moment and I think that when you try and play that open, expansive football, you’ll end up conceding like West Ham.”

Will The Friedkin Group be able to deliver the goods for Everton?

Coming into the takeover of the Merseyside outfit was no easy process for the American businessmen.

The entire process took months to complete but fortunately, it was all finalised before the January transfer window opened.

While missing out on Philogene once again is certainly a blow, there are other targets on the Toffees’ radar such as West Brom attacker Tom Fellows, who could more than plug Everton’s needs.

The winger is electric, very good on the ball and the fact he’s already hit double figures in assists this season shows how creative he is.

Dyches’ team is dying for a player of his calibre to come and take some of the load off of both Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye who have been two of the Merseyside outfit’s best players since the start of the campaign.

Although a deal would likely cost The Friedkins a small fortune, it would set a precedent for fans and show that they mean business, which, is all that fans really want after the turmoil of the past few years.
