Sean Dyche sack: Everton package agreed after Friedkin talks

The Friedkin Group felt Sean Dyche “gave up” at Everton, according to Paul Joyce.

Writing via The Times (9 January), Joyce reported that Dyche was understood to have told The Friedkin Group that he had taken Everton as far as he could, with Alan Myers sharing via Sky Sports News (9 January, 12:23 pm), that the 53-year-old had been sacked by the Toffees.

Discussions over a compensation package took place in the days leading up to Dyche’s eventual dismissal, and a package was agreed upon, with Fabrizio Romano reporting via X (9 January), that talks are already underway to find a replacement at Goodison Park.

However, the package agreed upon is thought to be less than Dyche felt he was entitled to.

Sean Dyche unhappy with The Friedkin Group after leaving Everton

Dyche deserves plenty of respect for the job he did while in charge at Goodison Park.

Although the football wasn’t exactly entertaining, the Englishman was often working with his hands tied behind his back and worked wonders to keep the Toffees in the Premier League on multiple occasions.

Had it not been for the hard work of Dyche on the pitch, the Friedkin Group’s takeover off the pitch might have not even been possible. Therefore, although it felt as though it was time to part ways, Dyche at the very least deserved some respect.

As a result, Joyce’s report, which implies that Dyche wasn’t best pleased after discussions with The Friedkin Group, is not a good look for the new Everton owners.

Therefore, they will need to ensure they get their first major decision spot on and hire the right manager for Everton to keep fans at Goodison Park happy, with David Ornstein sharing an update via X (9 January) on José Mourinho.
