Sean Dyche has been sacked by Everton, Sky Sports have shared.

The broadcaster shared the news on 9 January ahead of the FA Cup clash against Peterborough at Goodison Park.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman are set to take charge of the game, with The Friedkin Group pulling the trigger on Dyche with the Toffees one point above the Premier League relegation zone.

This is the news that everybody has been waiting for around Merseyside.

Everton have been dreadful for weeks now in the Premier League and looked to be sleepwalking towards the bottom three, if not for Jordan Pickford.

With the likes of Jose Mourinho already linked to the club, the Friedkins could make a ground-breaking appointment to turn things around in the second half of the season.

Everyone heard of a brutal streak behind the American group from their time at Roma, but it looked as though that wouldn't come out so soon at Everton.

How wrong everyone was though, with nothing breaking about Dyche leaving the club until the minute it had happened at Goodison Park.

Although there is a game tonight, most of the attention will switch to who will take over from Dyche, who deserves credit for keeping the club in the Premier League after points deductions and constant drama.

Baines and Coleman must deliver a win against Peterborough and then the new manager, whoever that may be, can come in and stamp their authority at Finch Farm straight away.
