Sean Dyche sack: Four others leave Everton with immediate effect

Everton have sacked Sean Dyche and four other staff members have left Goodison Park with immediate effect.

The club released a statement on 9 January to confirm that along with Dyche, Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also parted ways with the club.

It’s understood that the process to hire a new manager is underway but Dyche will not be in charge later on Thursday against Peterborough United.

It makes sense that a bunch of the core first-team staff have parted ways with Dyche.

Managers usually have their trusted lieutenants going with them from club to club and this group seems to be that.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman are part of the club fabric – one of them is still contracted as a player and the other one has been associated with the club for years.

So, for them to leave, would not really make sense and they should also be there once the new manager takes charge.

It remains to be seen who the replacement for Dyche is and whether or not The Friedkin Group hire someone mid-season or they give it to an interim.

A number of managers have been linked with the Toffees and the new owners certainly will be having talks in the coming days.

In other Everton news, an update has emerged on who will be the next CEO with The Friedkin Group making moves.
