David Moyes to appoint new Everton chief as Kevin Thelwell exit on cards
David Moyes will be influential in appointing a replacement for Everton sporting director Kevin Thelwell, according to The Esk.
The Toffees’ forensic analyst believes Thelwell will leave after the Scotsman replaced Sean Dyche in the Goodison dugout.
With the former Burnley head coach being sacked, the sporting director is also expected to depart, with Moyes playing a key role in the change.
Speaking on the Talking the Blues Podcast (11 January), The Esk said: “I think he [Moyes] will be instrumental in the appointment of a sporting director, a new sporting director, because I don’t see how Thelwell can possibly survive Moyes becoming the manager.”
David Moyes expected to change things at Everton
Moyes will evidently be expected to turn things around at the Merseyside outfit after Dyche was finally shown the back door.
The Blues are 16th in the Premier League table and are fighting for survival once again, sitting one point ahead of 18th-place Ipswich Town.
The Scottish head coach has returned when his team needs him the most, after years away from Merseyside.
Everton fans were tired of Dyche, but he was constantly mentioned as the right man to maintain the Merseyside club’s English top-flight status.
The Friedkin Group (TFG) had a big decision to make regarding the 53-year-old’s replacement, and they undoubtedly could not have done better than they have.

Moyes knows the Blues inside out and is a respected figure among the fanbase.
The 61-year-old was tasked with keeping West Ham United in the Premier League when they were struggling in the relegation zone a few years back, taking them to European success.
That is a long, way away here, but that must be one of the future goals already.
In other Everton news, Chris Sutton is upset after expressing sympathy for Dyche.
