Jack Harrison to be breathing sigh of relief after Everton transfer news

Jack Harrison will be a relieved man on Sunday morning following the latest update on the reported Everton pursuit of Ernest Nuamah.

The Ghanaian winger is not currently being chased by the Toffees according to sources (12 January), despite the club attempting to bring him to Goodison Park from Lyon last summer.

Santi Aouna (11 January) had initially suggested Nuamah was close to becoming the first signing of the second era of David Moyes on Merseyside.

Harrison will be aiming to impress David Moyes and secure a first-choice run in the side, something the arrival of Nuamah would have severely scuppered.

Everton not in for Nuamah, Harrison ready to impress Moyes

When The Friedkin Group dispensed with Sean Dyche in the week and replaced him with long-time Toffees manager Moyes, they evidently viewed the Scotsman’s European acumen as a strong aspect of his CV.

The club have only appeared in Europe twice since Moyes departed in 2013, but spent time between the Champions League and Europa League (or its equivalent) during four years of his previous reign.

Moyes was blessed with creative talent back then such as Tim Cahill, Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman, but was also able to strike a chord with this calibre of player to get the best out of them.

It may not be Nuamah who Everton next turn to as a creative force, despite the fact the 21-year-old has shown excellent promise early in his career to attract significant Premier League interest.

Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom alike – players who both still have plenty to prove – will be looking forward to the blank canvas from which they can catch the experienced eye of Moyes, who knows how to best utilise a Toffees attack.
