Moyes knows Everton ‘calamity’ is firmly on the cards as return sealed
David Moyes knows that “calamity” is on the cards at Everton now he’s back, according to Dominic King.
The Scot returned to Goodison Park to replace Sean Dyche after the former Burnley man was sacked by the Friedkin Group on Thursday (9 January).
The Blues are a very different club to the one that Moyes left 12 years ago to become Manchester United boss and sit just one point above the relegation zone, primed for another brutal survival battle.
The Daily Mail reporter believes that the 61-year-old is fully aware of the danger facing the club but will steer the Toffees clear of the drop zone, saying: “He knows, better than anyone, what a calamity it would be if Everton finished this season in the bottom three, but, be sure, he will not allow it.”
Moyes return to Everton is poetic
The Scottish manager was in charge of the Blues in their most successful recent era, when he guided the club to Champions League qualification in 2005 and an FA Cup final in 2009.
His Toffees side regularly finished in the European qualification places during his 11 year reign at Goodison Park.
His career since leaving the Blues has been a mixed bag, he had a dismal stint at Manchester United when replacing Sir Alex Ferguson before winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with West Ham in his second spell in East London.

His relationship with supporters was slightly soured when he ran his contract down to leave for United but he understands the fans and the club so it is a solid first appointment by the new ownership.
The fact that he is returning as the Blues leave their historic old stadium and will also lead the club into the new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock is a surreal moment.
Given his experience with the Hammers, he will hope to take Everton into Europe again and secure a maiden trophy since 1995 but he will need to ensure survival first.
In other Everton news, the Toffees should halt any plans for a Dominic Calvert-Lewin exit after the new appointment.
